The Town of New Canaan is seeking applicants for the position of Chief Financial Officer.

DUTIES:
This position reports directly to the First Selectman. The purpose of this position is to provide strategic management of the town's municipal finances and to develop, manage, administer, supervise and direct the programs and activities of the Finance Department. This position is responsible for accounting policies, internal controls and procedures, operating and capital budget development and monitoring, investment management, debt management, audit, purchasing, pension, OPEB, insurance and labor negotiations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or Business Administration and over eight years in financial management, or any equivalent combination of education, experience with 5 - 10 years of supervisory experience. A Master's degree in Finance, Business, a CPA or any other municipal experience desirable. Familiarity with financial management software. The Finance Director is required to exercise considerable independent judgment in administering and managing the department and is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control. This is a hands on position and the individual must be available for evening Board and Commission meetings. This person must have excellent communication and presentation skills.
