CCM urges General Assembly leaders to ensure that the municipal real estate conveyance tax rates are extended for at least another two years

The Honorable Christopher Donovan
Speaker of the House
Legislative Office Building
Room 4100
Hartford, CT 06106

Dear Speaker Donovan:

Thank you for scheduling a Special Session to extend the present rates of the Municipal Real Estate Conveyance Tax. Local leaders depend on the revenue from this tax to provide services and keep property taxes down and appreciate that you have given it priority for action even though the Regular Session is over.

CCM urges you to ensure that the rates are extended for at least another two years, as had been provided by SB 434 of the Regular Session. As we all know, the next biennium is going to be a difficult one for state and local governments and the revenue from the present rates of the tax will be more necessary than ever.

CCM and municipal officials are willing to go the extra mile to help save this critically needed non-property tax revenue. Please let us know how we can best work together to pass a two-year extension of the rates.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
