PUBLIC PURCHASING AGENT - HARTFORD, CT

CRT, a non-profit Social Service/Community Action Agency serving Hartford and Middlesex counties since 1964 has an immediate opening for an experienced Public Purchasing Agent.
Position Summary: The successful candidate is experienced in developing bid specifications as well as the process of conducting a public bid for a minor construction or renovation project; effective in the use of Agency resources by administering a purchasing process which provides value in acquisition of high quality products and services at competitive prices; possesses ability to analyzes bids results and recommend awards; maintains database of contracts to prevent gaps in bid price availability; ensures compliance with local, state and federal statutes and funding source requirements in purchasing and bidding activities.
Position Requirements: Bachelors degree in Business, English or other appropriate field, with at least four (4) years of experience writing and administering public bids. Excellent writing skills, with a demonstrated ability to reduce stated programmatic needs to concise and unambiguous bid specifications. Working knowledge of construction, building operations and service contracts . Basic understanding of commercial contract terms. Ability to attend to detail and accuracy.
